MULTIFUNCTIONAL SPECTROFLUORIMETRIC SYSTEM
The system serves to measure the fluorescence emission and excitation, phosphorescence and to measure anisotropies of these spectra. It consists of a number of separate, mutually fitting units, that can be aligned and joined in a required number and sequence on a common optical bank. All optical units are characterised by the same large aperture, f/3.
The system consists of the following devices:
- Monochromators
- Slit iluminators
- Light modulators
- Light collimating and light focusing systems
- Light polarising systems
- Thermostat castings for a sample.
The monochromators and the illuminator can work independently of the rest of the system.
Some examples:
A. The prismatic double monochromator: This monochromator is composed of two silica glass prisms 70 mm wide and 60 mm high. During each measurement the spectrum is being scanned by means of a synchronous motor over a wavelength span from 200 to 600 nm. The original reading system displays the spectral width of a transmitted band depending on the current wavelength and the slit width of the monochromator. B. The analogous monochromator with flint glass prisms: The spectral range of this monochromator is from 380 to 750 nm
C. The monochromator with two different holographic gratings 116 x 132 mm. The gratings can be alternatively inserted into the optical path. Depending on the grating the spectrum can be scanned by a synchronous motor in the spectral range 190-600 nm (the grating with1800 grooves/mm) or in the range 350- 800 nm (the grating with 1200 grooves/mm). Linear dispersion is 1 nm per 1 mm of slit width for the former and 1.5 nm per 1 mm of slit width for the latter.
D. The grating monochromator with only one 166 x 132 mm holographic grating frequency (1200 grooves/mm). The spectral range of this monochromator is red-shifted towards 300 1200 nm.
E. The slit illuminator with a high pressure Xe or Hg burner. The optical system forms an image of the light source of the dimentions 1.5 x 15 mm and of the aperture adapted to the dimensions of the f/3 aperture of slit.
F. The low-temperature thermostat casting for the sample. As a cooling agent liquid N2 is used, flowing through a copper block in which the sample is positioned. The temperature of the sample can be adjusted in the range 80-240 K with the accuracy of +/-0.5 K. The current temperature is determined by means of the Pt thermoresistor.
